Interested in a program that will keep your students mesmerized, or a unique presentation for your club or community group? An outreach program from Hoo’s Woods Raptor Center is your answer. Invite our raptors to your school, club, group or event. Our programs are filled with age-appropriate information that is both educational, meaningful and fun.
Outreach Program: year round
No pets or Service dogs permitted.
An indoor free-flight demonstration may be included with an owl or hawk depending on the location and size of the venue.
Our education birds include: Golden eagle, Bald eagle, peregrine falcon, snowy owl, spectacled owl, merlin, barn owl, barred owl, screech owls, broadwinged hawk, great gray owl , Northern Saw Whet Owl, rough legged hawk and turkey vulture. (Arctic species: Great Gray Owl, Snowy Owl and Rough Legged hawk available Sept 1 thru May 1st due to watm termperatures) Additional fee of $25 each for the snowy owl and great gray owl due to rarity and demand. )
Programs times available:
Monday- Friday: Day or Evening
Saturday: 9am- 3pm (depending on distance)
Sunday- Closed
Programs are 45 minutes in length and include:
A raptor educator specialist, with 3-4 live raptors, visual aids and activities to maximize your experience.
Fees for outreach programs
Three raptors (does not include an eagle) $325.00
Eagle programs $425 includes Golden Eagle or Bald Eagle plus 3 raptors
(snowy owl and great gray owl additional $25 each to be included as one of the 3 raptors)
Bald and Golden Eagle, snowy owl and great gray owl are more suitable for ages 8 and older.
Each additional consecutive program the same day at the same site: $100 each (up to two programs)
Additional charges for mileage (current rate of .58 per mile) will be applied if the program location is more than 60 miles round trip from Hoo’s Woods. For more information call 608-883-2795
***Note: fees are based on the special transporting of the birds, time to prepare, load and unload, the dissemination of accurate information about these species, materials needed to conduct programs, extra staff to assist, permit fees, insurance, equipment, and proceeds go to help the birds that are injured and also our education birds.
Booth Appearances/Special Events
Hoo's Woods extends its educational programs outside the classroom. From our walk-through booth we lecture about birds of prey, talking one-on one and answering individual questions, and bringing our message to literally hundreds of people. Our "Feathered Teachers" can be viewed from just a few feet away.
$425 for the first hour with an eagle plus 2 birds included. $350 for 3 birds without an eagle $100 for every consecutive hour after. 60 minute minimum, 2 hour maximum
Specific Species Program
Some people want to learn about a certain species for example: snowy owls, eagles or peregrine falcons. We offer programs about one specific species and suitable for smaller groups. Please contact us for fees and more details.
